Betsy Kusin, Administrative Director

Betsy B. Kusin brings a long and varied career in retail, public works and government to her role as Patient Always First /Cautious Patient Foundation Administrative Director.  From 2006 to the present, Betsy has served as the direct assistant to Cautious Patient’s Dr. Carolyn Oliver, the organization’s founder. Betsy is responsible for the on-going management of a wide variety of projects.

Prior to joining Patient Always First/Cautious Patient Foundation, Betsy served as the president of Lyric Moves, Inc., where for 23 years she owned and operated the Dance Centre, a women’s retail specialty clothing store. In this capacity, she not only developed the original business plan and raised start-up capital, but she was also responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operation, including sales, financial management, inventory control, human resources, customer relations and marketing.

Before embarking upon a successful career in retail, Betsy spent a number of years working in city government, first as an administrative assistant in the Office of the City Manager in Dallas, Texas and then at the Department of Public Works in Houston, Texas, as the public information officer. Prior to that service, she worked as an administrative assistant for Texas State Representative Fred Head, in Austin, Texas.  She also enjoyed a tenure as the news and information director for the Governor’s Commission on Physical Fitness, also in Austin.

Betsy is a graduate of the University of Texas, in Austin, with a bachelor of science degree in Radio, Television and Film, with minors in journalism and government. She graduated magna cum laude with special department honors in Radio, Television and Film.

Outside of her professional life, Betsy is a member of the Shir Magic vocal quartet, and is the past president of B&P Connections, a professional women’s networking group. She also enjoys travel and is the mother of two adult children, one a newly married son who is an attorney and lives with his wife, a veterinarian and the other a daughter who is an emergency medicine physician and a toxicology fellow.
