YourDoctorsAdvice.org, part of the Cautious Patient Foundation, is the first and only service that helps remember your doctor’s advice by encouraging you to repeat it to a service dialed from your cell phone.

Studies have shown that 30 percent of doctors’ advice to a patient is forgotten within 24 hours.

YourDoctorsAdvice.org, part of the Cautious Patient Foundation, is the first and only service that helps avoid this problem by encouraging you to repeat your doctor’s advice to a service dialed from your cell phone. (Almost all doctors have been trained to have the patient repeat back the doctor’s advice, so this is no “extra time” that the doctor has to spend with you.)  The recording is automatically and securely uploaded to access on your computer for easy access, when you can listen again and again to your doctor’s advice, take notes on it and even share it with your loved ones.

This brand-new software application is one-of-a-kind and what we believe will be a game-changer in how patients and families participate in their healthcare. Patients will be able to bring home answers from the doctor, and the patient could ask a question that a spouse might want the answer to, and then the spouse could hear what the doctor said, by having it repeated right away. Middle-aged people will be better able to assist their elderly loved ones with their healthcare by knowing, for sure, what the doctor wanted for the patient. A patient could even bring his or her recording of what his or her cardiologist’s advice, and let his or her primary care doctor hear it (the playback feature can be accessed by cell phone as well.) The potential to advance patient understanding, patient compliance with directions, and communication between patients and caregivers seems endless.

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston is gearing up to use this unique technology application in their outpatient Family Medicine Clinics to offer better healthcare through patients being able to absolutely remember what their doctor’s advice is.
